QR code song requests: from scan to DJ queue

Give guests at your party or event one place to ask for a song. A QR code opens your request room on their phones, while you keep the list in your dashboard and decide what to play.

Set up QR song requests in four steps

  1. 01

    Create your event room

Sign in, name your party or event and set when requests should be open. Add a short description so guests know they have reached the right room.

  2. 02

Share the room link or QR code

Open the sharing section in your room dashboard. Download the QR code for a printed sign or send the room link to your guests.

  3. 03

    Let guests request and vote

Guests scan the code, search for a song or artist and submit their pick. They can like existing requests to support a song already on the list.

  4. 04

Read the queue and choose the music

Use the dashboard to review requests, filter the list and mark songs as played. You play tracks yourself using your own DJ software or music setup.

Where to put your QR code at parties and events

Place a printed code at the entrance, on tables or near the dance floor. Add a short instruction such as ‘Scan to request a song’ so guests understand what it does before opening their camera.

Keep the code easy to scan: give it space, avoid stretching it and test the printed sign on a phone before guests arrive. A room link is a useful alternative when someone cannot scan the code.

One event, one request list

Share the code for the room you will manage during the event. Requests and likes belong to that room, so a birthday party and a separate corporate event can each have their own queue.

Set the request window around the time you want crowd input. Guests can see whether the room is upcoming, live or ended; you can change the event settings from your dashboard.

The QR code collects ideas; you run the set

A popular request is useful information, rather than a promise that a song will play next. Check whether the track fits the energy of the room and your planned set.

Hide requests that do not fit, mark completed tracks as played and save useful picks for later. VoteTheDJ does not play audio or take over your DJ software.

Frequently asked questions

Do guests need an app or account to scan the code?

No. The QR code opens the guest room in their browser. Only the host needs to sign in to create and manage rooms.

Can I download the QR code for a sign?

Yes. Your room dashboard includes a sharing section with the room link and a downloadable QR code.

Does the room work without an internet connection?

No. Guests and the host need internet access to load the room, search for tracks, send requests and update votes.

Can I collect requests before the party starts?

Yes. Set the room's request start time earlier than the party if you want to collect ideas in advance. Requests are available while the room is live.

Does scanning the code start music playback?

No. It opens the request page. The DJ or host chooses and plays the music separately.
